Hello!
I am one of two school counselors at Horace Mann Elementary. I've been a school counselor in SPPS since 2011 and have served at Horace Mann since 2023. I received my master’s degree in Educational Psychology (School Counseling) from the University of Minnesota and was honored to be named Minnesota Elementary Counselor of the Year in 2024. I love being a school counselor and feel very grateful to work with so many wonderful kids and families!
My hope for all of our students is that they continue to grow their interests and talents as joyful, enthusiastic learners. While I am passionate about helping all students feel connected and successful at school, I have particular interest in the social emotional needs of gifted students and promoting racial equity and inclusion within the school system.
As a school counselor, I work to support our students' academic success by building life readiness skills. I see students on a one-to-one basis around topics such as emotional regulation, organization, social skills, grief, and family change. Sometimes students ask to see me themselves, and other times they are referred by family members or teachers. I also respond to immediate needs within our school community, support positive behavior plans and lead weekly small groups and classroom lessons focused on topics such as growth mindset, friendship skills, conflict resolution, personal safety, and college and career readiness.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns, or if you feel your child could use additional support in any of these areas.
