Ms. Kacky
Dear Families!
Welcome to 4th Grade! My name is Kacky. It’s actually Kathryn, but my little sister could not say Kathryn when she was little, so she called me Kacky…and it stuck! My students call me Ms. Kacky. I am from Denver, Colorado. I have an older sister named Sydney, a younger sister named Ellen and a younger brother named Paul. I have four nephews and a niece who all live in Colorado. My parents live there too. I miss them terribly and go home to visit as often as I can!
I live in Plymouth, MN, which is about a 45 minute drive to and from work. 😳 I have a husband named Tony, and we have three handsome, crazy and rambunctious little boys. Charlie is 13 and in 8th grade this year. Teddy is 12 and in 7th grade. Gus is 10 and he is in 5th grade…and they are all as cute as can be! I also have a dog named Lucy. She is adorable and she is definitely the princess at our house! I have discovered that being a mom has made me a better teacher. I am fiercely protective, and my students know I am their "Mama Bear" here at school. I promise to love them and take care of them as if they were my own!
I graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Diversified Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Bilingual Education. Yes, I speak Spanish! I received my Masters in Administration from Chapman University. I have taught first, second, fifth and sixth grades throughout my 20+ years of teaching. This is my 8th year teaching 4th grade and I think they are my favorite! Their level of responsibility is growing, and their sense of self is blossoming! I was also a Literacy Coach for 4 years before coming to Horace Mann.
Here are some things you should know about me. I hate messes! I like to keep my house and my classroom nice, organized and neat. I learn and teach better when it is not too loud. I don’t like bullies and I don't like when people are disrespectful. We'll spend a lot of time on our classroom community. My goal is for every child in my class to feel safe, welcome and that their voices will be heard. I also really appreciate honesty…especially when it is hard to tell the truth!
I am looking forward to this year and I can't wait to meet your child(ren)!
Love,
Ms. Kacky
