My name is Annie Backman. This is my 3rd year in the school district. I have been an OT for 10 years and most of that time has been spent working with children. I believe occupational therapy provides children with the skills and tools they need to be successful inside and outside of the classroom. I am passionate about advocating for students' needs and figuring out the best way for them to access their education.
In occupational therapy, I work with a wide variety of children who need to develop their fine motor and visual motor skills as well as address sensory processing needs. I work with students 1:1, in small groups, or co-teach groups with special education teachers, speech therapists, or social workers.
When I am not working, I enjoy being active and being outside. I have two little boys ages 7 years and 5 years who keep me very busy! We spend lots of time biking, building, and hiking outside. I also enjoy running and yoga.
I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees right down the street at St. Kate’s. Fun fact: my grandmother, my mother, and my mother-in-law all attended St. Kate’s!
I am very excited for the opportunity to be a piece of your child's school experience puzzle! Please feel free to reach out via email with any questions or concerns!
