Board of Education Approves Upcoming School Year Calendars
The Saint Paul Public Schools Board of Education recently approved calendars for each of the next three school years - 2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28. The calendars can be found under "Future Calendars" at spps.org/about/calendar.
These three calendars were proposed and approved after extensive community engagement. Nearly 8,000 parents/guardians, staff and students responded to a survey this past fall.
Across all survey respondents, a majority prefer a shortened winter break with a full week of spring break.
- Responding families preferred to shorten winter break (62%) and have a full week of spring break
- Responding staff Indicated a strong preference (66%) for shortening winter break
- Students preferred a full two-week winter break (47%) with a shortened spring break
Based on this community feedback, there will be slightly shortened winter breaks in school years 2026-27 and 2027-28, due to Labor Day falling late. When Labor Day falls on the 5th, 6th or 7th of September and we follow all of our other district parameters, we are unable to finish school before the third week of June. Ending in the third week of June makes having our robust summer offerings extremely difficult.
