A Great Partnership!
Minnesota_Wild
The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild and Horace Mann School (K-6) have created a "business partnership" with the vision of making a difference in the educational development of school-age children in their local communities.

This partnership was created by 4th Grade Teacher, Amy Kortuem (Horace Mann School), Matt Majka, Executive Vice President (Minnesota Wild) and Pam Wheelock, Executive Vice President (Minnesota Wild).

Each week, members of the Minnesota Wild front office staff, which includes professionals from the finance, marketing, sales &

service, and community relations departments, volunteer once per week mentoring Horace Mann School students. Each mentor is matched with a student and works one on one, under the supervision of Mrs. Kortuem, during the thirty minute period. Since 2000, the Wild has taken the time and effort in not only mentoring children from an academic standpoint, but also inspiring children to be great achievers in everything that they do.

In 2004, the Wild received the "Champion for Children Award" from HOSTS Learning. HOSTS Learning is a leading provider of research-based learning systems that accelerate student achievement in reading and math for grades K through 12.
