Gifted and Talented students are as unique as the gifts and talents they bring to the classroom. Equally diverse are their learning needs. Horace Mann School provides high potential students greater intellectual challenges, expanded opportunities to question, experiment and create, and an environment where thoughtful, more introspective students can find their voice in discussion or writing.
The Gifted and Talented program at Horace Mann School offers accelerated learning programs to students who have been identified as having high learning potential. Our program develops a higher level of critical thinking, problem-solving and comprehension in all curriculum areas, in tandem with your child's traditional classroom learning. Our Gifted and Talented Specialist will work closely with your child's teacher to assess the challenges and enrichment programs which will best match and nurture your gifted child's learning style and needs.
One of the greatest strengths of our program is that it is offered within our school. Parents need not uproot their children from their siblings, friends, school and neighborhood in their search for an academically challenging learning environment for their child. Research has shown that children succeed in environments they perceive as familiar and safe; where they feel a sense of community with other students, parents and faculty. Horace Mann School, in existence since 1930, offers a familiar, safe learning environment and more, to every student, of every ability. This community of learning is comprised of able students, high parental involvement, and an outstanding, experienced faculty who bring their gifts and talents as well. It all adds up to "win - win" results for ALL our students. Perhaps that is the reason our schools test scores consistently rank among the highest in the St. Paul Public School District. All of our students are learning and our gifted students are excelling.
