Prizes will
be awarded based on minutes read and money raised. Prizes build as a student
achieves a higher level of money raised.
Participation Prize:
An Old Country Buffet
gift certificate for every student who turns in a Calendar Tally Sheet. There
also will be a random drawing and students who turn in a reading calendar are
eligible for this random drawing. Several students from each grade level will be
chosen to go on a special field trip to Hamline University!
Level 1
Prize:
3,2,1 Read!
Flashlight for those
raising between $30 and $59.99. It’s perfect for reading in bed!
Level 2
Prize:
One free book
selection from the Scholastic book fair, held on November 12-13, 2009, in
addition to the level 1 prize for all students raising between $60 and
$119.99.
Level 3
Prize:
A second free book
selection from the Scholastic book fair, in addition to the level 1 and 2 prizes
for students raising $120 and above.
Special Prize
Drawing:
Several students from
each grade level who turn in completed reading calendars will be drawn to go on
a special field trip to Hamline University, to swim and play on
campus.
Grand
Prize:
One student from each
grade will receive a grand prize for Most Minutes Read and one
student from each grade will receive a grand prize for Most Dollars
Raised. These prizes – $10 Barnes and Noble gift certificates – will be
awarded at the Read-a-thon closing ceremony on Thursday November 12.
If you and your child
are interested, your child can opt not to receive prizes and donate the cost of
their prizes back to school.
